Steps to website success

Step #1

Getting your own website. As I have mentioned before, it is a good idea to get a website to promote your business. You can get a website from Bravenet:

Step #2: Building your website. Once you have a website and a domain, the next thing you need to do is to build it. You will need to choose a theme and a layout. What type of layout works best with your product? Also, if you plan to advertise or insert pictures and graphics, where will you put them?

Once you have decided on a theme and page layout for your home page, you will need to begin writing in information. Think of a title for the page. The first page may just be called the home page. You may wish to begin by describing what your site is about, and giving a little of your background. This first paragraph is very important, because it's the first thing your visitors will read. This is where they will decide if they want to stay on your site.

Write a couple more paragraphs giving interesting information to your visitors, and describing how your site can be helpful to them. Don't make this section too long because people may not want to read too much information at once. You can add more detail later.

Another important ingredient for the homepage would be graphics. You want to make it look good. Personalize your site by inserting a photograph of yourself. Add a business logo if you have one. Add some interesting and colorful pictures if you have some. Make your site attractive to the eye. You should be able to upload an image by clicking the image button in your control panel.

If you have side panels, this would be a good place to add pictures. You can also put in affiliate ads, widgets, etc. Add news headlines, a calendar, etc. Bravenet has a variety of add ons for your site.

Once you have gotten your home page started, you will need to just continue to add on information. Organize it so it will be attractive and easy to read. Add a good amount of content onto your home page.

Next your will begin to add pages to your site. To get ideas on what pages to add, visit other sites similar to yours. Make your site unique, but just try to add pages that will be of value to your visitors. Repeat steps used for the home page. Make sure you have a page or a link where a customer can contact you and order your product.

Step #3: Advertising your website.  Once you have your site set up, you will need to let people know about it. Seach engines will need to know about your site so that people looking for the product you offer will be able to find you.

Even though seach engines may eventually find your site on their own, you may wish to speed things up by adding your site yourself. A good place to do this is Freewebssitesubmission.com

There is a lot more you can do to promote your site, but we will get into that a little later on.

Step #4: Attracting Traffic. Submitting to search engines is a good way to begin getting traffic. There are also other ways to advertise your site. Start by giving your website link to people your know. Here are a couple of other methods of attracting traffic:

Both these methods work well. I will be adding more methods later. These are good to focus on for now.

Step #5: Profiting from your site. You can earn money from your site by working with affiliate programs. I got my own money making site: http://beserrashomebasedbiz.com

Here is one of the affiliate programs I work with:

There are many other affiliate programs available. I will be telling you about some of them later on. I would like to mention that great care should be taken when choosing affiliate programs. There are many scams out there. Check them out well.

Step #6: Keeping your visitors. Once you begin getting visitors you will want to keep them coming back. This is especially true since many people don't buy on the first visit. We will discuss email marketing later on.
